Kitchen Fire
Yesterday I started our kitchen on fire! We are SO DARN LUCKY that T was home... otherwise we might have had a house fire on our hands. I had a pan of oil on the stove to cook T's out-of-this-world chimichangas... and forgot about it! We were also cooking up some hot dogs on the barbeque outside, so we were back and forth from the garage and the kitchen. I remembered about the oil and ran inside to see smoke rising from the pan. I took it off the burner and it immediately burst into flames! T told me to take it outside, but I panicked and dropped it on the floor - right onto our kitchen rug - which of course, just started right on fire!! T then yelled at me to GET OUTSIDE which I did promptly... then realized that T was holding Anna inside. OH MY HECK! I couldn't go back in the kitchen door where the fire was, so I sprinted around the house and back inside to get Anna from T. Owen was already out the front door and standing by the tree in our front yard...such a good little boy! The tree is our designated spot to meet in case of an emergency. T grabbed the extinguisher and put out the fire, but our house was full of smoke, oil, and the mess that extinguishers make. I am extrememly grateful that there was no real damage...and glad that I had a "practice" run in case it happens again. I can see how fast a house can burn right down. If T hadn't of been home, I would have gotten the kids out and safe with a neighbor or something before I even attempted to go back in with a fire extinguisher. And I have never actually USED an extinguisher, so it would have been a bit slow and shaky I'm afraid. By that time the whole living room would have been engulfed!
So the moral to this story is...#1 know where your extinguishers are and how to use them, #2 remember to get your kids out before you do, and #3 don't leave oil on the stove on high and walk away from it!!

Another funny conversation...(Owenisms)
Owen had just gotten out of the bath and had his Spiderman towel wrapped around him like a cape.
Owen: "Mom, look! I'm SuuuPERMAN!"
Me: "Cool. Maybe since you're superman you can go to your dresser and find some underpants and jammies."
Owen: "Mom... SuuuPERMAN only SAVES PEOPLE, he doesn't find clothes!"
Me (thinking) - Well, duh! I should have known that!
Owen: (throwing off his towel) "TaDa! Now I'm Owen!!! I'll go find my jammies, mom."

Poop and Snot
This is what my life has been about for a few days! Anna has another ear infection, and the antibiotics make her go POOP! All the time. (poor girl) And she has some power. Yesterday she went thru 4 outfits by about 4 0'clock. Wow... All I have to say about that is that she got those genes from her dad's side of the family! And Owen has another cold (which is where Anna picked hers up)...which means SNOT. All over the sleeves of his shirts. And all over his face. And dried on his cheeks.
I will be glad when winter is officially over!

Catching Up!
Wow it's been a LONG time since I have blogged! Here are a few things that stand out in my mind...
I absolutely LOVE Valentine's season - not the day necessarily, but the month prior. I love it because I get to decorate at the store, make up cute things for other people, and be as cheesy as I want to be and no one cares! I worked a lot that week, which I thrive on - so thanks to everyone who helped out with the kiddos. Owen slept at Macie's on Friday night, and woke up to a fun present that I sent down. He even got to eat his peanut butter cups in bed for breakfast! Aunt Rae-Rae is the best aunt ever!
I signed Owen up for gymnastics...and he LOVED his first class! There were 3 other boys, so I was glad that he wasn't going to be doing a bunch of "fluffy" stuff! He seriously caught right on - I was impressed with how athletic he is! He was always the first in line to follow the teacher, and wanted to do everything not 3 times, but 10 times! He's our little go-getter for sure. When his first class was done, he DID NOT want to go... but decided if he could ride the "alligator" up and down then he would be OK (the elevator). He also got a donut - lucky kid!
Anna is getting BIG! She had her 6 month check-up and is doing great. She is about average for her age - maybe a little small. She weighed in at 15 lbs. 9 oz, and was 25 1/4" long. She is on schedule with all the fun things babies do at this age - sitting up, rolling, laughing, picking things up, scooting, sleeping, crying, and eating! We love little Anna Banana! (Owen WILL NOT call her anything but this! He gets pretty defensive if anyone dares call her just Anna!)
Another highlight in February was getting to be on Studio 5! They called us on a Monday and wanted us to be on air the next day! Wow it was crazy! We came up with a dozen ideas for them to show from the party store, and everything went GREAT! I don't think I am cut out for TV, but it was fabulous advertising for the store, so we were happy about that. We had ladies coming in from all over the state because they had seen us! The best part is that the production manager asked us to be on 3 more times! We will be on Tuesday, March 10th, Monday, April 6th (my birthday) and then once more in May! Check out Pioneer Party's blog if you want to see our first "gig!"
